If the idea of living just like the locals sounds like your idea of a perfect holiday, Scarborough in Perth, Western Australia is just the place to stay. Just 20 minutes from the Perth CBD and right on the beach, you might just want to move there after your holiday is finished! We’ve rounded up some of our favourite places to eat, sweat, relax and shop in this beautiful beachside destination.

Where to eat:

You’ll never go hungry in Scarborough! There’s something for every taste, from Nutella jaffles at Lady Latte, to live music and tequila at El Grotto or pulled pork sandwiches at The Hardware Store.

Where to sweat:

Since you’re so close to the water, it’d be a crime not to take advantage of it. KitesurfSUP run kitesurfing lessons or unlimited weekend passes – it’s the kind of exercise that feels like you’re not actually exercising (until the next day, that is!). If yoga is your exercise of choice The Yoga Garage offers every type of bend and stretch on the spectrum, from hot yoga through to yin. Don’t forget to take a stroll (or run, if you’re an over achiever) along the Scarborough-Trigg Heritage Trail which combines the beauty of the beach with the rugged bush trails of the Trigg Bushland Reserve. The track is made up of three loops totalling 7kms.

Where to relax:

Obviously, the beach is our number one choice for where to spend an hour or two winding down. Catch a wave or two at neighbouring Trigg Beach, Perth’s most consistent surf break, or just people watch on the vast white sandy stretch of Scarborough Beach. If you’ve had your fill of sand and surf, head to the Serene Day Spa for a Body Salt Glow treatment using mineral salt scrubs to stimulate your circulation and your Zen.

Turquoise Lane offer a similar selection of fashion, jewellery and sunglasses including Velvet Canyon and Spell & The Gypsy Collective.
